Support the Putnam History Museum this Holiday Season

Dear Friends,

While the Putnam History Museum’s galleries close for our winter recess on December 15th, we are already preparing for another busy year of preserving historic resources, groundbreaking exhibitions, and engaging programming. Since its founding in 1906, the museum has stood as a place for history, for education, and for the community. It is only with the help of our community that we can do the things that we do.

In the past year, donations have helped us develop innovative programming like hikes, kayak tours, and educational trivia nights, allowed us to provide low-cost field trips for school groups in Putnam County, and produced the exhibitions “Healing Hudson” with art by Selva Ozelli, “Scenes from the Hudson River School of Art,” and “Revolutionary Visions: Women in the Hudson Highlands during the American Revolution.”

Looking Ahead

As we look to 2025, we have some ambitious goals. But to achieve them, we need your help. In addition to supporting our general operations, your Annual Appeal contributions will provide critical funding towards:

  • Digitalizing our Historic Newspaper Collection: To share this fascinating history far and wide.
  • Developing our Outdoor Community Space and Educational Services: To expand our reach through quality education that fosters community partnerships and engagement.
  • The 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution: To bring this history to life as we commemorate the occasion with programming, scholarship, and exhibitions.

Your support is not just a contribution to the museum; it is an investment in the community’s sense of history, place, and past. Any donation makes an immediate impact for our museum. Contributions may be made online here or by sending cash or check to the Putnam History Museum.

Thank you for your dedication to the PHM, and we look forward to another year of making history with you!

Warm regards,

Mark Forlow, Board Chair
Kara Mattsen, Interim Executive Director
