The Keepers of the Flame Legacy Society
Become a member of The Keepers of the Flame Legacy Society!
In order to honor those museum members and friends who are helping secure the financial future of the Putnam History Museum through charitable bequests, we are pleased to announce the creation of The Keepers of the Flame Legacy Society. Below are examples of ways you can become a member.
- Charitable bequest. A bequest is a gift from your estate – a transfer of cash, securities or other property made through your estate plans. Because the museum is a public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, bequests are deductible for federal and state estate tax purposes. Speak with your lawyer or financial advisor about the best way to leave your legacy, or contact the museum to discuss your plans.
- Life Insurance Plans. You can name the museum a beneficiary of all or part of a life insurance policy that will not be needed by your family. Contact your life insurance company for a beneficiary designation form.
- Retirement Plans. You may have substantial assets in qualified retirement plans (IRA, Keogh, SEP, 401(k), 403(b) and ESOP). You can designate the museum as the beneficiary of all or part of your retirement plan assets by getting in touch with your retirement plan administrator.
